Shorewood-Troy Public Library staff wanted to share some of the fun things they love to do in the winter too. Maybe these activities will become your family’s new favorite!
Becky – My favorite thing in the world is baking cookies in December. My family makes hundreds of cookies, and packs them up in tins to give to friends and family.
Jennie – I love a good puzzle.
Julie – Watching old holiday movies, snuggling puppies, downtime with family, looking at holiday lights.
Kimberlee – As a child, my mom started this tradition on my birthday since it’s a week before Christmas. We would go out after dinner and cake and drive through the neighborhoods to see all the festive lights. As an adult, now we get eggnog shakes to sip as we drive around to see them.
Lesley – Watching snow fall outside my window!
Leslie – I love making homemade bread and soups weekly during the winter.
Melissa – My favorite winter activity is reading, snuggled up in a warm blanket with a good book. I also love the lights festival Holiday Magic at Brookfield Zoo!
Rachel – As a kid, it was sledding. As an adult, it’s a walk during or right after a significant snowfall, even better in the woods or at night by the light of the moon. It’s so still and quiet — like the world has been temporarily reset.
Terrie – I like staying home and baking or reading.
